About the Position

This permanent full-time position works closely with a team of professionals to support children and youth in a community group home. The primary responsibility is to facilitate success for children and youth by assisting with day-to-day activities and routines, implementing skill development strategies, managing crisis, assisting with school difficulties, and providing relief coverage.

About the Role

The Group Home Worker will utilize the Teaching-Family Model to encourage the development of close relationships and relevant skills, enabling children and youth to successfully integrate back into their families and communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily activities and routines to promote the well-being and development of children and youth.
  • Implement skill development strategies to enhance the abilities and confidence of children and youth.
  • Manage crisis situations and provide support to children and youth in times of need.
  • Assist with school-related difficulties and provide academic support.
  • Provide relief coverage for other staff members as needed.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with and relate to people of all ages.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to working with children and youth.
  • A diploma or degree in a related field (such as child and youth care, social work, or education).
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable children and families is an asset.
