Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nutrition Technician to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at North York General Hospital. As a Nutrition Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and accurate preparation and delivery of infant feeds in the NICU.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and calculate infant feeds in accordance with patient diet orders
  • Prepare and deliver infant feeds in a controlled environment, adhering to aseptic procedures and minimizing cross-contamination
  • Effectively communicate with NICU team members, including nursing staff and dietitians, to ensure integrated patient-centered care
  • Prioritize and prepare accurate feeding orders, handling unexpected changes in patient feeding requirements
  • Deliver prepared feeds to the refrigerator while maintaining aseptic procedures and minimizing waste
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition from a recognized university or a 3-year diploma from a recognized accredited college program in Food Services Administration and Technology
  • Working knowledge of aseptic technique in the preparation of feeds
  • Two years' experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in neonatal nutrition and therapeutic diets
  • Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management is preferred
  • Proficiency with computerized diet order entry systems and experience with Neonatal/Paediatric patient population are assets
