About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physiotherapy Assistant to join our team at BC Children's and Women's Hospital & Health Centre in Vancouver, BC.

As a Physiotherapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing patient care under the supervision of licensed therapists. Your primary responsibilities will include setting up treatment equipment, preparing patients for treatment, assisting patients with rehabilitative activities, adapting patient aides, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Additionally, you will perform various clerical duties such as typing, reception, and maintenance of charts and files utilizing computerized software programs.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Receiving patients and escorting them to the appropriate treatment area; assisting therapists in preparing patients for treatment by performing duties such as patient transfer, dressing, and undressing.
  • Assisting patients with established rehabilitative activities such as mobility and strengthening exercises, respiratory care, gym and walking programs. Setting up treatment equipment and overseeing patients in exercise programs.
  • Assisting therapists by fabricating a supply of splints for use by therapists/nurses for adaptation to the specific patient. Assisting therapists with positioning during fabrication of splints that are moulded directly on the patient. Fabricating splint, delivering it to patient and direct patient, family and/or nurse on instruction under direction of therapist.
  • Assisting therapists in providing care by taking measurements required for fabrication of adaptive devices such as standard Ilizarov post-op knee extension and foot drop splints and fabricating according to samples. Fabricating custom positioning devices such as the fabric Greenville Binder based on measurements provided by therapist. Assessing post-operative patients for clothing adaptations required for application of external fixators such as Ilizarov or Wagner frames.
  • Assists therapists with planning and organization of group activities for inpatient groups such as gym groups and cooking groups by performing duties such as ordering materials, escorting patients, setting up materials and assisting with treatment.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to your base salary, you can also expect a comprehensive benefits package, including a municipal pension plan and psychological health & safety programs and holistic wellness resources.
