About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Nova Scotia Community College faculty team as a Digital Animation instructor. As a member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching courses in Digital Animation, including Animation Fundamentals, Character Animation, and Animation Mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Digital Animation, including Animation Fundamentals, Character Animation, and Animation Mechanics.
  • Develop and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners, including preparation, instruction, assessment, and evaluation of students.
  • Ensure health and safety practices and procedures are followed in the classroom, shops, and labs.
  • Maintain currency with the latest industry practices relevant to Digital Animation and continually develop your understanding of 21st-century teaching and learning practices.
  • Participate in academic and career advisement, committee work, program marketing, curriculum revision/development, and other related duties.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a relevant college diploma or university degree in Digital Animation or a related field.
  • You have a minimum of five years of recent and related occupational experience in digital animation, including 2D Animation Software.
  • You have specific occupational experience and knowledge in 2D Animation Software, traditional and digital 2D character classical and puppet animation, 2D animation production pipeline management, animation concept, story, and character development.
  • You possess solid traditional drawing skills that demonstrate an understanding of 3D shapes and space.
  • Experience in production management, including teaching experience and/or production team supervision experience, will be considered an asset.
  • Occupational experience that includes experience in a supervisory capacity, evaluating, monitoring, assessing, and advising will be considered an asset.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, email, Adobe Suite, and are equally comfortable using PC and Mac products.
  • You possess basic internet skills to search for information and evaluate the information you find.
  • You have demonstrated experience liaising with business and industry in your field.
  • Ideally, you have related experience in the delivery of educational programs or training to adults.
  • You have knowledge and experience in applying WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, and occupation-specific safety practices.
  • You are comfortable using multimedia technologies and a variety of platforms to engage students in online and blended learning capacities.
