Animal Care Attendant

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Care Attendant to join our team at the BC SPCA. As a key member of our shelter staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide exceptional care and attention to the animals in our shelter, including feeding, cleaning, and administering medication as needed.
- Work collaboratively with our front office staff to provide excellent customer service and support to the public.
- Assist with the maintenance of our shelter facilities, including cleaning and disinfecting kennels and cat cages.
- Participate in the adoption process, including preparing animals for adoption and assisting with adoption procedures.
- Perform other duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and driver's abstract.
- Philosophical harmony with the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the BC SPCA.
- Demonstrated interest in all aspects of animal welfare.
- Sound knowledge of animals, their breeds, characteristics, and common diseases.
- Strong desire to provide excellent customer service skills, including patience, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with colleagues, customers, and volunteers.
- Highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize demands on time and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer experience: Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
