Job Summary

The District of West Vancouver's Engineering Department is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Engineering Assistant I. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical support in various municipal engineering functions, including field and office work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site inspections to identify infrastructure issues and document findings;
  • Analyze data for roads, bike lanes, sidewalks, and multi-use pathways to inform engineering decisions;
  • Prepare responses to resident inquiries, requests, and complaints in a timely and professional manner;
  • Assist with the preparation of construction notices and street occupancy permits;
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of locations with traffic issues and report findings to the supervisor;
  • Perform other related work as required.
Requirements
  • Enrolled in an Applied Science program at UBC or an equivalent program at another educational institution;
  • Able to perform a 4 or 8 month work term;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of civil engineering projects and construction methodology;
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel;
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia;
  • Access to a personal vehicle to commute to work and perform site visits as needed;
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD considered an asset.

The successful candidate is required to supply a Police Information Check and a copy of their credentials.
