General Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a skilled Chemistry Laboratory Technician to join our team at Mérieux NutriSciences. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for conducting various laboratory tests and analyses, including gas chromatography and quality control procedures.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Perform analyses using GC-MS-MS, GC-MS, and GC-FID instrumentation.
- Utilize various gas chromatographic techniques to determine the concentration of target analytes in food or supplement samples.
- Ensure proper extraction methods are conducted on samples.
- Maintain chemistry quality control records and procedures for each analysis.
- Record and interpret analytical data.
- Prepare standards or reagents required for analysis procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to complete job responsibilities.
- Maintain a clean working area.
- Determine root cause and corrective action for investigations.
- Communicate procedural and operational difficulties and delays to supervisor.
- Review batches and respond to out-of-specification results or questionable data.
- Maintain equipment records in databases in accordance with our Quality System.
- Adhere to all safety policies.
Your Profile:
A diploma in chemistry or food science is preferred, but previous experience is accepted. You will be required to follow specific instructions, have a general understanding of laboratory needs, and possess excellent verbal communication skills to interact with peers and management. The work environment is a laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment and may be exposed to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials. The incumbent works in the laboratory with increased temperatures near the autoclave and washer. The incumbent is required to wear masks, laboratory coats, and insulated gloves when working with media. Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds is necessary when loading and preparing samples for autoclaving. The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing position. Sunday to Thursday schedule approximately noon to 8:30pm. Pay range is competitive.
