Your Day-to-Day Life
We are looking for a Lab Technician in #106- 8255 North Fraser Way, Burnaby, V3N OB9 CAN. Your mission will be to:
- Perform analyses with HPLC instrumentation
- Utilize HPLC to determine the concentration of target analytes in food or supplement samples
- Ensure proper extraction methods are conducted on samples
- Maintain chemistry quality control records and procedures for each analysis
- Record and interpret analytical data
- Prepare standards or reagents required for the analysis procedures
- Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) required to complete job responsibilities
- Maintain a clean working area
- Determine root cause and corrective action for investigation
- Communicate procedural and operational difficulties and delays to supervisor
- Review batches and respond to out-of-specification results or questionable data
- Maintain equipment records in databases in accordance with our Quality System
- Adhere to all safety policies
Your Profile
Profile:
●A diploma in chemistry, microbiology or food science is preferred but previous experience is accepted.
Required skills:
●This position requires the ability to follow specific instructions.
●A general understanding of the needs of the laboratory is required to avoid delays in sample testing or inaccurate results.
●Excellent verbal communication skills are required to interact with peers and management.
Management:
●None
Work Environment:
●The incumbent works in the laboratory with proper lighting and temperature control.
●Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory.
●The incumbent works in the laboratory with increased temperatures near the autoclave and washer.
●The incumbent is required to wear masks, laboratory coat and insulated gloves when working with the media.
●Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds is necessary when loading and preparing samples for autoclaving.
●The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing position.
