Job Summary

Northern Tales Travel Services is seeking a charismatic Tour Guide to join our team. This role requires a passionate individual with excellent communication skills and a love for history.

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead guided tours of historical sites, museums, and other cultural attractions. They will be responsible for providing information, answering questions, and ensuring that all visitors have an enjoyable and educational experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive sightseeing or tour vehicles to transport clients to various destinations
  • Collect administration or entrance fees from clients as required
  • Coordinate recreation activities and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Describe points of interest, answer questions, and supply information to clients throughout the tour
  • Ensure luggage transfers are completed efficiently and effectively
  • Assist clients with check-in procedures for accommodation and/or transportation
  • Use microphones or other communication devices to provide directions and other pertinent information to visitors
  • Coordinate activities with local tour guides or leaders of performance groups as necessary
  • Provide information on tipping customs, currency exchange rates, metric conversion, and other details to enhance the client's experience
  • Sell souvenirs to clients as part of the tour package
Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • A Secondary (high) school graduation certificate as a minimum requirement
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • A First Aid Certificate and CPR certification
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Punctuality, reliability, and a strong work ethic
Working Conditions

This role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, standing for long periods, and frequent walking. The ideal candidate should be physically fit and able to handle the demands of the job.

Benefits

Northern Tales Travel Services offers a competitive salary range of $40,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. Additional benefits include a dental plan, health care plan, bonus structure, and life insurance.
