About the Role

Morrison Hershfield, now part of Stantec, is seeking a skilled Transportation Structural Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Horizontal Infrastructure Business Unit, you will play a crucial role in delivering outstanding quality and meeting our clients' needs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of small to medium-sized engineering projects, with a focus on developing skills towards a future project manager/technical lead role for larger projects
  • Attend site visits to gather pre-design information, conduct construction reviews, and evaluate post-construction outcomes
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines, including highway/road, electrical, drainage, and environmental planning
  • Design and analyze transportation structures, including bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and foundations
  • Direct CAD teams for drawing preparation and review, ensuring deliverables meet client expectations
  • Prepare and review technical reports, tender documents, and cost estimates
  • Provide tender evaluations and/or construction engineering services
  • Work within assigned project budgets and schedules
  • Mentor junior staff on project work and technical development
Qualifications
  • B.ASc. or B.Eng. in Civil/Structural Engineering, with a strong interest and experience in structures, particularly bridges
  • P.Eng. status and a minimum of 4 years of proven experience in design using Canadian codes and design standards
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments, with a valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with CAD and SAP2000, CSiBridge, SFRAME
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Able to work in a team environment, excel in bridge and multi-disciplined projects, and mentor technical development of others
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work with minimal direct supervision and exercise independent judgment
