As a Senior Labour Relations Specialist at the Canadian National Railway Company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our business operates optimally and safely. Your expertise in labour relations will be instrumental in promoting a cooperative and effective working environment.

About this Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to collaborate with our leaders to identify and prepare arguments to defend the company's position on labour relations issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in interpreting and applying collective agreements and relevant federal employment legislation.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Partner with leaders to develop strategic plans for labour relations, providing guidance on proper handling of labour-related issues.
  2. Analyze complex information to formulate recommendations on labour relations matters, considering both short-term and long-term implications.
  3. Collaborate with the business to identify and prepare arguments to defend the company's position on labour relations issues.
  4. Provide expert advice on labour relations to line management, focusing on grievance handling and administration of collective agreements.
  5. Maintain effective relationships with union representatives, colleagues, and clients to promote a positive and productive labour relations climate.
Requirements
  1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in labour relations, preferably in the federal sector and transportation industry.
  2. Strong knowledge of labour principles, including collective agreements and relevant federal employment legislation.
  3. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively.
  4. Fluency in English and French, both written and verbal.

The salary for this role is estimated to be around $85,000-$110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
