About Our Opportunity

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a skilled Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic to join our Building Services Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in maintaining and supporting our provincial infrastructure.

Primary Accountabilities

As a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, servicing, repairing, inspecting, and decommissioning industrial, commercial, and residential HVAC and R units and systems in provincially owned and leased buildings. This will include connecting to and servicing air delivery systems, installing and servicing hydronic and secondary refrigerant systems, and associated controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, service, repair, inspect, and decommission HVAC and R units and systems
  • Connect to and service air delivery systems
  • Install and service hydronic and secondary refrigerant systems and associated controls
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with relevant codes and standards

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A high school diploma and Red Seal qualification as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Red Seal certified technician
  • A valid Nova Scotia driver's license
  • Safety training in areas such as Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act, Safety Orientation, First Aid Certification and CPR, WHMIS, Scaffolding Safety, Fall Protection, Confined Space Awareness, and Elevating Work-Platforms
