VP, Information Security Leader

Beem Credit Union, a leading financial institution in BC, is seeking a highly skilled VP of Information Security to join its team. With a strong focus on security and risk management, this role will play a critical part in protecting the organization's digital assets and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement effective security strategies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead the development and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and standards.
- Collaborate with IT, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure alignment and effective implementation of security controls.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging security threats and trends, providing expert advice and guidance to the organization.
- Build and lead a high-performing team of security professionals, providing mentorship and coaching to ensure the success of the team.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Information Systems, with at least 3 years in a management role within the Financial Services sector.
- Profound understanding of security protocols and system architecture, including DNS, routing, authentication, VPN, proxy services, DDOS mitigation technologies, coding practices, ethical hacking, threat modeling, firewall, and intrusion detection/prevention protocols.
- Superior knowledge of Compliance and Risk standards such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, GLBA, GDPR, and SOX.
- Strong business acumen, strategic vision, and the ability to translate technology trends into actionable insights that drive business value.
- Experience with agile methodologies and practices, demonstrating the ability to foster agility and responsiveness in infrastructure operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
