Heavy Equipment Operator for Waste Management

At Waste Connections of Canada Inc., we are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in the Ottawa Landfill District. This is a full-time position with benefits, offering a competitive salary of $24.60 per hour and 44 hours of work per week.
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced operator to manage various heavy equipment, including articulated trucks and backhoes. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating equipment for leveling, loading materials, and general site preparation. Additionally, they will promote workplace safety and environmental practices, perform routine inspections, and maintain equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment for leveling and loading materials such as dirt and rocks.
- Operate backhoe and articulated trucks as required.
- Perform general site preparation, landscaping, snow removal, and related assignments.
- Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- May be required to watch the public drop-off pad, litter pick, shovel, and mow lawns.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Heavy Equipment Operator experience.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and loud noises.
- Able to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
