The Corporation of the Township of Tay is seeking a Seasonal Worker to join our team. As a Seasonal Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining the Township's public grounds, including sidewalks, streets, and roads. This is a physically demanding role that requires a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as bending, crouching, and kneeling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain sidewalks, streets, roads, and public grounds
  • Spread sand or salt on sidewalks for snow or ice control
  • Dig ditches and trenches
  • Operate jackhammers and drills to break up pavement
  • Assist equipment operators to secure attachments to equipment or truck
  • Load and unload trucks with supplies and equipment
  • Shovel cement and other materials into cement mixers, spread concrete and asphalt on road surfaces using shovels, rakes, and hand tampers
  • Sweep debris and remove snow from streets, sidewalks, building grounds, and other areas, and load snow and debris into carts or trucks
Requirements
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Steel-toed safety boots
  • Criminal record check
  • Driving record check (abstract)
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience an asset
Work Environment

This role requires working in a cold, refrigerated, dusty, noisy, and outdoors environment. You will be required to work in a rural area and may be required to work in an urban area.
