Licensed Practical Nurse

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on our interdisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in delivering comprehensive assessments, treatment management, and guidance to clients with mental health and addictions-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver client care according to College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Saskatchewan standards
- Provide ongoing client care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Formulate and implement client care plans, safely implementing physician's orders
- Administer medications to clients, maintaining current progress records according to legal and ethical standards
- Orientate, facilitate, and reinforce client involvement in addiction treatment, deciding and initiating action in medical emergencies
- Provide supportive counseling to clients, families, and/or significant others on typical recovery issues, maintaining a therapeutic environment on the unit
- Co-ordinate individual client appointments and referrals, actively participating with team members in assessment, planning, and evaluation of the client and his care
- Assist the public with crisis intervention and information on addiction, performing other duties as outlined on shift duty lists and assigned by the Nursing Supervisor
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training
- Licensed Practical Nurse registered in the Province of Saskatchewan
- Current basic CPR, recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis, leadership/charge experience preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, good problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting, knowledge of/experience with team-based person-centered care approach
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team
