  • About the Role
  • The Release Manager will play a vital role in supporting and maintaining Equitable Bank's cloud development. This individual will collaborate and communicate with various internal and external cross-functional teams at every level, including DevOps, Quality Assurance, external cloud vendors, API developers, and Project Stakeholders, to facilitate environmental requirements on various projects.
  • Core Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, monitor, and maintain development/testing environments across multiple teams to ensure seamless communication and understanding of project progress.
  • Mitigate issues in these environments and work with vendors as necessary to permanently resolve issues and prevent future occurrences.
  • Recommend approaches to streamline and integrate technological processes in the organization to improve overall release management efficiencies and enhance the customer experience.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate production deployments, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to ensure a successful release.
  • Collaborate efficiently and effectively with various stakeholders, including Developers, QA, BA, Architects, DevOps Engineers, and other team members, to drive releases and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for tickets, deployments, environments, procedures, and other relevant information to facilitate knowledge sharing and process improvement.
  • Manage the release pipeline towards QA, Staging, and Production deployments, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to ensure a successful release.
  • Ensure that a release satisfies all exit criteria requirements, including completeness of release documentation, to ensure a successful release.
  • Track, monitor, and report on environments and releases daily, weekly, and monthly at various management forums as required to maintain transparency and accountability.
  • Manage risks and resolve issues related to release schedule and code quality, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to mitigate risks and prevent future occurrences.
  • Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to ensure a successful release.
  • Produce Deployment Plans and delivery runbooks to facilitate knowledge sharing and process improvement.
  • Release delivering to production on-time with zero disruptions to our existing business and customers, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to ensure a successful release.
  • Coordinate patching and maintenance activities with vendors for environments to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to mitigate risks and prevent future occurrences.
  • Ensure that application versions are correctly deployed to the appropriate test environment for each phase of testing, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to ensure a successful release.
  • Coordinate test data in lower environments according to testing requirements, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to ensure a successful release.



  • About You
  • The ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary/undergrad degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, with a minimum of 4 years' experience in the financial services industry and good knowledge of retail digital products.
  • The candidate should have a sound understanding of cloud technology and be able to drive environment troubleshooting discussions, as well as be familiar with DevOps tools and process, including Jenkins, Argo CD, etc., and Atlassian tools, including JIRA and Confluence.
  • The candidate should also be proficient in all Microsoft Office 365 desktop and collaboration tools, have good knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle concepts and best practices for waterfall and agile methodologies, and have good knowledge of ITIL framework and related support processes for incident, problem, and change management.
  • Project management and coordination experience is an asset, as well as excellent problem-solving skills, experience working in a banking or financial services environment, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervisory direction.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage functional teams directly and indirectly toward common solutions are also essential.
