Job Title: Surgeon

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced surgeon to join our team at Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). As a surgeon with MSF, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, providing medical care to those in need.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and carry out surgery according to priorities and protocols
  • Manage operating room (OR) staff and resources
  • Monitor the quality of care and hygiene in the OR
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care to patients
  • Carry out emergency and elective surgeries
  • Ensure protocols are respected and quality standards are met

Requirements:

  • Full and current registration as a medical professional
  • Two years recent post-residency surgery experience
  • Experience in emergency surgical situations, including orthopedic, trauma, and obstetric surgery
  • Experience providing pre- and post-operative care
  • Ability to work under basic conditions with few resources and lack of diagnostic equipment
  • At least six months of clinical experience within the last two years
  • Experience in managing staff in a multicultural team
  • Excellent command of English
  • Available to work between six weeks and six months

Assets:

  • Relevant travel or work experience in contexts similar to where MSF works
  • Knowledge of French or another language (Arabic, Spanish)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (especially Excel)
