Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Director to lead our game design team and drive the creative vision of our games. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for establishing and upholding best practices for design methodology, managing design goals and documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality game experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement design strategies that align with the company's overall vision and goals.
  • Lead and manage a team of game designers, providing guidance, feedback, and mentorship to help them grow and develop in their careers.
  • Collaborate with game design directors, production, and development directors to manage designer assignments, capacity planning, and productivity.
  • Manage communication, relationships, and syncs with partner teams and other disciplines to ensure seamless collaboration and delivery.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, including design plans, design specifications, and design reviews.
  • Partner with research departments and product management to establish tests and interpret data to improve game design.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in game design to ensure our games remain competitive and engaging.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in a game design role within the gaming industry, with 3+ years in a lead or director role.
  • Expertise with multiple stages of development, from pre-production through updating live experiences.
  • Experience with change management and improving team operations.
  • Experience with JIRA and using it for agile methodologies for task tracking.
  • Expertise in management, mentoring, and creating career development plans with proven experience growing careers.
  • Expertise with proprietary game design tools, game design implementation, and development environments.
