Job Title: Program Assistant - Adult Day Programs

Baycrest Ambulatory Services is seeking a Program Assistant to join our team at the Baycrest Adult Day Program. As a Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing safe and effective direct care and support to program members, promoting their independence, dignity, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct care and support to program members, including assisting with daily activities, providing emotional support, and promoting social interaction.
  • Support the delivery of in-person and virtual programs related to health and wellness, including planning and conducting assigned programs and initiating new programs and special events.
  • Initiate and maintain therapeutic relationships with program members, their families, and other care providers.
  • Support members being transported to and from the program while on the Baycrest bus.
  • Assist with recreational programming provided to Toronto Senior Housing tenants at off-site locations.
Qualifications:
  • Current P.S.W. certificate from a recognized community college or educational institute or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in program activation, recreation, and virtual program required.
  • Activation Diploma preferred.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
  • Certificate in Dementia Care preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with at-risk or frail seniors living in the community preferred.
  • Experience delivering services and care to seniors with cognitive impairment, mental health issues, and complex medical issues.
  • Experience working in a Day Centre or community service setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian languages an asset.
