Project Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Project Engineer to join our team at Startec Compression & Process. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating detailed engineering, procurement, and fabrication for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Facility Design and Optimization
- Support the Project Manager or Engineering Manager in developing the Design Basis Memorandum (DBM), Project Execution Plan (PEP), and associated Project Support Plans.
- Ensure the design is executed to adhere to the material budget defined within the Class III Cost Estimate.
- Organize timely involvement of key stakeholders in support of design development, mitigating cost and schedule impacts due to preventable late project changes.
- Monitor technical design changes, ensuring only necessary changes are made for safety, code/spec compliance, maintainability, or operability.
- Participate in detailed design and 3D model reviews, Process Hazard Assessment, SIL analysis, constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Conduct engineering calculations, simulations, and modeling to optimize facility performance and efficiency.
- Select and specify equipment for gas processing facilities, including compressors, heat exchangers, separators, filters, etc.
- Develop maintenance strategies, encompassing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
- Support Engineering and Procurement groups to ensure RFQs and POs for Vendor engineered and/or supplied equipment are complete and accurate, minimizing change and mitigating cost increases.
- Ensure the following are monitored, controlled, and met on Schedule and on Budget: Quality Engineering and Procurement Deliverables, Quality Vendor (Supplier) Drawing and Data Requirements (VDDR or SDDR) Deliverables, Vendor Procurement and Fabrication Schedule Milestones, Testing / Checking / Inspection / Quality Assurance Schedule Milestones, Shipping Schedule Milestones.
- Develop, check, and issue complete and accurate Engineering Work Packages (EWPs) and/or Construction Work Packages (CWPs) on Schedule.
- Manage Schedules and Man-Hour Budgets.
- Manage the identification, clarification, and disposition of Non-Conformances (NCRs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and Trends in support of the Management of Change Program (MOC).
- Implement and maintain safety management systems, emergency response plans, and environmental monitoring programs.
- Stay updated on safety and environmental regulations, incorporating them into the design and operation of gas processing facilities.
- Communicate effectively with external stakeholders, such as clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance and project success.
- Foster positive relationships and maintain effective communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure the incorporation of lessons learned from previous projects into the engineering of current projects.
- Stay updated with industry advancements and trends in packaging design and technology.
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in the design, engineering, and fabrication of gas processing facilities.
- Experience in facility design, construction, and maintenance, preferably in a similar industry or environment.
- Knowledge of typical oil and gas equipment and systems, such as Separators, Towers, Storage Tanks/Bullets, Flares and Knockouts, Instrument air, Heat Medium packages, Truck Loading, Pumps, Modularization, etc.
- P.Eng (APEGA) or Professional Licensee (Engineering).
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint), with a strong ability to work well with customers, vendors, designers, and fabrication staff.
- Good understanding of ASME / ANSI / API / CSA Codes and ABSA requirements.
