Nurse Manager

Health PEI is seeking a skilled and experienced Nurse Manager to lead our nursing team at Western Hospital in Prince Edward Island.
About the Role- Manage and oversee the medical inpatient and palliative care beds, as well as the Emergency Department at Western Hospital.
- Provide leadership and support to the Clinical Leads for these units.
- Ensure that all principles and established Standards of Nursing Practice are consistent with the goals and strategic plan for Community Hospitals West and Health PEI.
- Provide onsite daily support to the nursing staff and manage staff meetings regularly.
- Plan and implement effective and efficient delivery of patient and family-focused nursing care.
- Responsible for long-range strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing services.
- Identify and develop nursing policies and procedures according to evidence-based practice and in collaboration with the Community Hospitals West Nursing Policy and Procedure Committee.
- Foster professional development and ensure that all nursing staff work within their scope of practice.
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Prepare quarterly and annual reports for the Director of Nursing and/or Administrator as required.
- Provide leadership to a number of committees relevant to Medical/Palliative Care and Emergency Department teams.
- Monitor safety in the workplace, monitor medical equipment, and implement corrective strategies where staff/patient safety is at risk.
- Determine staffing needs, participate in the staffing process, perform performance appraisals, and maintain regular staffing rotations.
- Communicate and collaborate with other on-site managers to ensure the provision of quality care for patients.
- Work collaboratively with Human Resources and the Director of Nursing to address and resolve performance and other HR-related issues as they arise.
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.
- Extensive progressive and successful clinical experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in acute care nursing.
- Experience in planning and policy development, as well as financial and human resource management.
- Program planning, development, and evaluation skills.
- Master's Degree in Nursing would be considered an asset.
- Experience in the role would be considered an asset.
- Supervisory/Management/Leadership experience is preferred.
- Experience in Medical/Palliative Care is an asset.
- Experience in Emergency Department care is an asset.
$46 per hour (Level 20N - Excluded)
Work Schedule0 hours Bi-weekly / Monday to Friday 8 a.m. – On Call / Some Evening and Weekend Work May Be Required.
