Job Summary
The Chemical Technologist plays a critical role in supporting the teaching and research activities of the Chemistry Department. This position involves providing technical assistance, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring the safe operation of the teaching laboratories.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical support for undergraduate laboratory experiments and research projects
• Maintain laboratory equipment, including instruments and chemicals
• Ensure the safe operation of the teaching laboratories, adhering to departmental safety protocols and regulations
• Collaborate with faculty members and researchers to develop and implement new laboratory experiments and procedures
• Provide instruction and training to students and researchers on the use of laboratory equipment and techniques
Requirements
• Completion of a 3-year college diploma in chemistry, with 2 years of on-the-job training
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of flexibility and adaptability
Working Conditions
The Chemical Technologist will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with exposure to various chemicals and equipment. The position requires the ability to work safely and effectively in a laboratory setting, with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
