Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct supervision to the Shift Operating Engineers and prioritizing maintenance activities in the Utilities area.

In accordance with the Operating Engineers Act, they will conduct daily work activities in support of HSE objectives and policies. They must understand HSE policies and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the operation of Utilities equipment (boiler plant, refrigeration plant, air plant, as well as water and waste water systems, firewater, and cooling towers).
  • Supervise/manages the Assistant Shift Engineers and Utilities operations in all plant areas.
  • Interact with other departments to ensure sufficient quantities and quality of Utility Services (air, water, etc.).
  • Administer the rules and regulations of the Operating Engineers Act under the Province of Ontario for the Niagara PVC plant.
  • Meet Plant Quality System responsibilities and quality and service requirements for customers, including ISO 9001 Quality standards.
  • Conduct performance reviews and performance planning for subordinates.
  • Recommend specific training requirements for employees.
  • Practice and promote Quality Management and Safe Working Principles.
  • Oversee and maintain the fire equipment, ensuring equipment is in good working condition or recommendations are made for replacement.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate must possess a valid 1st Class Operating Engineer's License, knowledge of Operating Engineers Act, Boilers, Pressure Vessels, and fuels.

A Community College Diploma in Power Engineering Technology or related field of study or equivalent knowledge and experience is required.

Strong knowledge of power generation/transmission technology, water and waste water treatment including processes, procedures, and related systems in a plant environment is essential.

Knowledge of computers and ability to operate computer systems and software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and to conduct research using the internet is necessary.

SAP knowledge/experience would be an asset.

Estimated Salary:$90,000 - $110,000 per year

This salary estimate is based on industry standards for similar positions in the region.
