p>ACCOUNTABILITY: Provides direct supervision to the Shift Operating Engineers and prioritizes maintenance activities in the Utilities area. In accordance with the Operating Engineers Act, conducts daily work activities in support of HSE objectives and policies. Understands HSE policies and programs. li>Supervises the operation of Utilities equipment (boiler plant, refrigeration plant, air plant, as well as water and waste water systems, firewater, and cooling towers).
Supervises/manages the Assistant Shift Engineers and Utilities operations in all plant areas.
Interacts with other departments to ensure sufficient quantities and quality of Utility Services (air, water, etc.) br/>Administers the rules and regulations of the Operating Engineers Act under the Province of Ontario for the Niagara PVC plant.
Responsible for meeting Plant Quality System responsibilities and quality and service requirements for customers, including ISO 9001 Quality standards. />Conducts performance reviews and performance planning for subordinates.
Recommends specific training requirements for employees. Practices and promotes Quality Management and Safe Working Principles.
Oversees and maintains the fire equipment, ensuring equipment is in good working condition or recommendations are made for replacement.
Conducts daily work activities in support of HSE objectives and policies.
Understands HSE policies and programs. br/>Attends in-house safety training and monthly safety meetings, as well as participates in the safety Observer program.
Participates in board reviews and HAZOP analyses as required.
Completes bid analysis.
Implements approved project modifications; orders project materials, coordinates permits, and contractor crews within the operations schedule.
Prepares documentation, completes testing of modifications, and prepares a close-out report.

Education: Must possess a valid 1st Class Operating Engineer’s License, knowledge of Operating Engineers Act, Boilers, Pressure Vessels, and fuels. Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Power Engineering Technology or related field of study or equivalent knowledge and experience. Strong knowledge of power generation/transmission technology, water and waste water treatment including processes, procedures, and related systems in a plant environment. Knowledge of computers and ability to operate computer systems and software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and to conduct research using the internet. SAP knowledge/experience would be an asset. p>Experience: Related Utilities management experience in plant operations with a focus on power technology, systems, processes, and project management. Must have related experience and be familiar with plant operations, systems, processes, procedures, and experience with TSSA regulations on several levels. Previous Utilities related experience including planning, coordinating, organizing work or projects. In addition, must have previous experience with Health and Safety practices and procedures in a manufacturing environment, ideally a chemical processing facility.
