Job Summary:

The Instructional Designer will be responsible for planning, designing, delivering, implementing, and evaluating training and development programs for Hydro Ottawa. This includes curriculum content, training materials, digital experiences, and job aids aligned with the company's Training Delivery Strategy and associated frameworks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to conduct training needs analysis and determine training requirements.
  • Develop learning objectives and structure learning activities for effective training development and implementation.
  • Research new and innovative curriculum development practices.
  • Apply instructional design methodologies in creating learning experiences and assessments.
  • Design and develop engaging learning experiences for various learning needs using learning technologies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop recommendations for future programs and/or revisions to existing programs to ensure overall quality.
  • Manage service agreements with external partners.
  • Maintain training materials and program guides.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, preferably with a focus on Instructional Design, educational technology, or adult learning.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Current and relevant knowledge of the instructional design process.
  • Experience with immersive, digital, and mobile-enabled learning technologies.
  • Experience managing projects and implementing change.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in office productivity and collaboration tools, preferably G Suite, as well as Articulate 360.
  • English essential, both oral and written; bilingualism or other languages considered an asset.
