Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Kiewit Equipment Services team. As an Equipment Intern, you will play a key role in supporting our Regional Construction operations by planning, scheduling, budgeting, and maintaining our construction and mining equipment fleet.

District Overview

This internship will provide you with hands-on experience in equipment planning, scheduling, and maintenance. You will work closely with our experienced team to ensure the profitability of Kiewit projects through improved equipment utilization and mechanical reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in material handling and procurement
  • Create and maintain tool/filter lists and documentation
  • Conduct inspections of equipment and parts
  • Manage logistics and communication
  • Plan and schedule equipment for long and short-term projects
  • Use reliability and failure analysis data to increase equipment availability and reliability
  • Support craft maintenance technicians in ordering parts, managing inventory, scheduling crews, and ensuring quality and safety

Qualifications

  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to work full-time during the Fall semester
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), Diesel Technology, or Automotive Technology
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in various climates and environments
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to take initiative, and passion for safety
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives

  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • Perform work safely and effectively, understanding and following oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies
