Operant AI SRE Role

We are seeking a seasoned SRE professional to join our team at Operant AI, Inc. as a key member of our engineering organization. As our first SRE hire, you will play a critical role in building out our SRE roadmap and functions that ensure the resilience and security of our platforms and services.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement monitoring systems to ensure the availability, security, reliability, and scale of our products and services.
  • Document and codify best practices around operational behavior of services, ensuring seamless integration with our engineering teams.
  • Build and maintain the infrastructure that supports incident triaging, troubleshooting, remediations, and post-mortems.
  • Collaborate with our engineering teams to monitor and maintain security best practices within code development.
  • Ensure the maintenance of annual SOC2 compliance controls, tracking and performing tasks as necessary.
  • Develop and communicate on-call schedules and processes to the broader engineering teams.
  • Document and communicate design decisions with the broader team to support a remote, asynchronous work culture.
  • Function independently, making technical choices in the presence of unknowns, while collaborating cross-functionally with other engineering leaders.
  • Take an active interest in understanding customer problems while building features in an iterative manner.
  • Adapt SRE practices and processes quickly to scale with a fast-growing startup and product.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in an active hands-on SRE role in a fast-paced engineering organization building SaaS/cloud-native products and services.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Golang, and Python.
  • Knowledge of major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their automation toolchains.
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently as part of a remote team.
  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or similar equivalent industry experience is preferred.
  • This position will require you to be available during core PST business hours (9am-5pm) and to adjust schedules occasionally based on customer and business needs, including business travel, client meeting/call schedules, and team off-sites.
