Job Summary

The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will be a key member of our professional services team, responsible for delivering electrical engineering and design services to assigned projects. This role will work closely with our CAD department to develop and deliver electrical designs, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and provincial building codes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple concurrent electrical design projects, including scope, deliverables, and project budgets.
  • Conduct research and provide design, operation, and performance of building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, controls, emergency power, life-safety systems, and renewable power generation and storage.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, architects, facility management, and technicians to develop detailed designs for various architectural, mechanical, and electrical projects.
  • Support the installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure and tenant fit-up and mechanical equipment upgrades.
  • Provide equipment selections, cost and timing estimates, reports, design specifications, and drawings for building electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design/engineering.
  • Familiarity with Electrical Codes and Provincial Building Codes.
  • Experience in engineering consulting.
  • Strong understanding of the engineering environment in the electrical sector.
  • Highly meticulous nature, strong attention to detail.
  • Engineering and construction of building and site electrical, power, lighting, and life-safety systems.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work on several projects concurrently.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both official languages (considered an asset).
  • Proficient with MS Office suite.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other employees.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Prior customer interface experience.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with computer tools.
  • Knowledge of building mechanical systems (an asset).

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Must hold a degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Ontario Professional Engineer (PEO) required.
  • Engineering license in other provinces (an asset).
  • Driver's license.
