About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Safety Inspector to join our team at Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting existing buildings and occupancies to ensure compliance with the Nova Scotia Fire Safety Act and Regulations, as well as various Municipal By-laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect buildings and occupancies to identify compliance with relevant regulations and by-laws;
  • Identify and report inaccuracies in property data;
  • Respond to complaints and conduct follow-up inspections as necessary;
  • Maintain accurate records of all activities;
  • Enforce operational guidelines and occupational health and safety standards;
  • Review and coordinate the development of operational policies and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Level 2 Fire Inspector Certification or equivalent;
  • Minimum five years' experience administering a Fire Safety Act and Regulations;
  • Valid driver's license;
  • Considerable experience inspecting complex buildings, such as high-rise and industrial facilities.
