About the Opportunity

Vaco is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our team. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for overseeing accurate financial reporting and ensuring compliance with IFRS and reporting to the parent company.

The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in life insurance financial reporting, with exposure to Canadian tax and a CPA or similar designation. Multiview experience is an asset, but not required. French speaking is also an asset, but not required.

As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing accurate accounting and financial reporting for the company and its subsidiaries
  • Ensuring monthly accounting cycles and corporate reporting deadlines are consistently met
  • Driving operational excellence by streamlining processes, improving workflow efficiency, and redesigning systems to shorten reporting cycles
  • Serving as the primary liaison with auditors
  • Ensuring internal controls are effectively designed and functioning properly
  • Offering guidance and support on accounting matters to business unit teams across the country
  • Overseeing the accurate and timely preparation and filing of all taxes (income and indirect) for the company and its subsidiaries
  • Acting as the liaison with internal and external tax experts, consultants, and government agencies
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller who is passionate about delivering high-quality financial reporting and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5-10 years of experience in life insurance financial reporting
