Job Summary

We are seeking a Junior Environmental Scientist/Technologist to join our Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation and Monitoring (ARRM) team in Grande Prairie, AB. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for participating in maintaining our strong safety culture, leading simple contaminated site field investigations projects, and working with senior technical advisors to ensure high-quality products.

Responsibilities

  • Active participation in maintaining Matrix's strong safety culture
  • Lead simple contaminated site field investigations projects
  • Act as a leader in the workplace using Matrix Standard Operating Safety and Technical Procedures
  • Initial interpretation of field data to make field-related decisions
  • Work with senior technical advisors to ensure high-quality products that meet our clients' unique project needs
  • Understand and adhere to project-related timelines and budgets
  • Preparation of technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and summary reports
  • Assist with data entry, pre and post-field data requests (to data management, drafting, logging staff) and scanning and filing of information associated with field activities
  • Prepare equipment orders and coordinate pooled testing equipment
  • Inspect, clean, calibrate, and repair field equipment and document
  • Dispense personal safety equipment
  • Coordinate rental and fleet trucks, and inspect, clean, and manage maintenance of vehicles
  • Manage inventory levels/stock of equipment and consumables and replenish consumables as necessary

Requirements

  • A degree or technical diploma in environmental science or related field
  • Eligibility for registration in or maintaining a good standing in a professional organization
  • Self-motivated and possess strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience managing assessment, reclamation, remediation, and monitoring projects for Oil and Gas clients within a consulting environment would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Alberta and BC regulatory framework would be considered an asset
  • Experience writing technical reports or reviewing technical data
  • Experience working with various hand tools and mechanical equipment would be considered an asset
  • A valid and clean driver's license with no restrictions
