As a Junior Environmental Scientist/Technologist, you'll join our Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation and Monitoring (ARRM) team in Grande Prairie, AB, and be part of a collaborative community that thrives on technical expertise and teamwork.

About the Role

We're seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to lead simple contaminated site field investigations projects, work with senior technical advisors to ensure high-quality products, and contribute to a broad range of projects with responsibilities including:

  • Active participation in maintaining Matrix's strong safety culture
  • Lead simple contaminated site field investigations projects
  • Act as a leader in the workplace using Matrix Standard Operating Safety and Technical Procedures
  • Initial interpretation of field data to make field-related decisions
  • Work with senior technical advisors to ensure high-quality products
  • Understand and adhere to project-related timelines and budgets
  • Preparation of technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and summary reports
  • Assist with data entry, pre and post-field data requests, and scanning and filing of information associated with field activities
  • Prepare equipment orders and coordinate pooled testing equipment
  • Inspect, clean, calibrate, and repair field equipment and document
  • Dispense personal safety equipment
  • Coordinate rental and fleet trucks, and inspect, clean, and manage maintenance of vehicles
  • Manage inventory levels/stock of equipment and consumables and replenish consumables as necessary

What We're Looking For

  • A degree or technical diploma in environmental science or related field
  • Eligibility for registration in or maintaining a good standing in a professional organization
  • Self-motivated and possess strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience managing assessment, reclamation, remediation, and monitoring projects for Oil and Gas clients within a consulting environment would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Alberta and BC regulatory framework would be considered an asset
  • Experience writing technical reports or reviewing technical data
  • Experience working with various hand tools and mechanical equipment would be considered an asset
  • A valid and clean driver's license with no restrictions
