Job Summary

The Transportation Supervisor is a key role within Canadian National Railway, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of train services within a designated territory or terminal. Main Responsibilities
  1. Safety and Compliance
    • Develop and implement safety protocols to minimize accidents and incidents
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies
    • Provide training and coaching to unionized employees on safe work practices and procedures
  2. Operational Management
    • Manage train line-ups and train meets to optimize service delivery and reduce delays
    • Monitor and analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance service quality and efficiency
    • Collaborate with rail traffic control and other stakeholders to ensure seamless train operations
  3. Leadership and Supervision
    • Lead and motivate a team of unionized employees to achieve high levels of performance and service quality
    • Develop and implement performance management plans to address performance gaps and improve employee engagement
    • Provide coaching and feedback to employees to enhance their skills and knowledge
  4. Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with customers, rail traffic control, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless train operations and resolve issues promptly
    • Collaborate with other departments to identify and address operational issues and implement process improvements
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in railway operations, with a minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience and a valid driver's license. Fluency in English and French is also required. The successful candidate will be a strong leader with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
