Creature - Jedi Training Program (Open to Canadian Citizens & PR only)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented and ambitious individual to join our Creature department as a Jedi Trainee. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to hone your skills in creature simulation and rigging, working closely with our experienced Jedi Masters.

This paid training program is designed for recent graduates or industry artists with up to two years of experience. You will gain hands-on experience through training and mentorship, in a fast-paced and highly collaborative production environment.

As a Jedi Trainee, you will be responsible for:

  • Attending live classes and self-led training sessions to learn about our creature pipeline
  • Replicating rigs and shots from completed projects to gain a deeper understanding of our workflow
  • Providing day-to-day support to our Creature Technical Directors and Animators, under the guidance of our Leads, Supervisors, and Head of Department
  • Analyzing and optimizing rigs and sim set-ups
  • Assisting show Supervisors with quality control and preparation
  • Developing professional habits, including best practices for presenting work in dailies, working as a team, and communicating effectively
  • Gaining knowledge and appreciation of our company culture and history

Requirements:

  • A certificate or degree in Computer Graphics, Animation, Fine Arts, Design, or Photography, or a related program, and/or relevant experience working in a similar industry
  • Proven ability in one or more CG techniques relevant to the creature department, including rigging and simulation
  • Experience with Maya or Houdini is required
  • A reel demonstrating character or creature effects, rigging, and technical abilities is required for this role
  • Experience refining templates, rig kits, and reusable sim set-ups is a plus
  • Knowledge of Linux and coding/scripting knowledge (Python, MEL, or VEX) is a plus

Compensation:

The pay rate for this role is C$25.14 per hour. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, including medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
