Saskatchewan Polytechnic is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Instructor Aide. As a key member of our team, you will provide academic support to students through various tutoring modes, including online, drop-in, and appointment-based sessions.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver one-to-one or group support to students, utilizing online and face-to-face environments to enhance their learning experience.
- Assist students with writing skills, including grammar, punctuation, and organization, as well as provide guidance on citation documentation.
- Help students develop learning success skills and strategies, promoting their confidence and abilities in their studies.
- Provide timely support to students at risk, working collaboratively with Learning Services Instructors to ensure their needs are met.
- Identify and share relevant study resources with students, supporting their individual learning habits and improving their academic performance.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, accommodating diverse learning needs and promoting equity groups and English language learners.
- Collaborate with Learning Services Instructors to seek clarification on course expectations and ensure alignment with program goals.
- Support Learning Services instructors as directed, including recording and maintaining quantitative records and researching student-friendly support materials.
- Work effectively in an interdependent team environment, participating in mentorship and training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Pursue professional development opportunities to stay current with employer and educational requirements, ensuring your skills remain relevant and effective.
- Adhere to Saskatchewan Polytechnic's regulations and policies, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and student success.
- Be available for evenings and weekends as determined, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to accommodate students' needs.
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in academic writing and online tutoring.
- Minimum of 6 months' experience in the last 2 years as a tutor in an online learning environment.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
- Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, email, MS Office Suite software, and ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
- Valuing diversity and promoting inclusivity.
