Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse

Fraser Health is seeking a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our Mental Health and Substance Use Services team. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide assessment, treatment, consultation, and follow-up services to clients and their caregivers. You will work collaboratively with community agencies to plan and develop services for our client population.
Responsibilities- Provide clinical nursing services to clients and their caregivers, including comprehensive nursing assessments and treatment planning.
- Provide education on mental health and substance use issues to caregivers, professionals, and community groups.
- Carry out treatment plans and interventions, including administering prescribed psychotropic medication and monitoring its effects.
- Provide follow-up and monitoring of complex psychiatric/medical situations, including substance use/dependence.
- Consult and collaborate with members of the interprofessional care team to identify and resolve issues and adjust care plans as needed.
- Facilitate clients' utilization of appropriate community services by liaising and collaborating with key service providers.
- Initiate and participate in case conferences/meetings with clients, families, service providers, and team members to review and plan care.
- Advocate for clients to protect and promote their autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information.
- Document assessments, observations, interventions, patient/family responses, outcomes/evaluations, and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
