As a Mental Health Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients experiencing serious mental health and bio-psychosocial problems.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and psychosocial needs, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
- Crisis Intervention and Support: Provide crisis intervention and support to patients and their families, using evidence-based practices and techniques.
- Education and Health Promotion: Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and health promotion strategies.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with the interprofessional care team to provide comprehensive care, communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Quality Improvement and Research: Participate in quality improvement activities and research initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Education and Experience: Graduation from an approved School of Nursing, one year of recent related mental health experience in an acute, tertiary, or community setting.
- Registration and Certification: Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Skills and Abilities: Strong assessment and intervention skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to providing person-centered care.
