Summary of Position:

The Director of Culinary and Support Services is a key member of our Support Office team, responsible for leading the culinary and support services operations in our communities. This role requires a strong leader who can create exceptional hospitality experiences for our residents and guests, while ensuring the delivery of high-quality culinary and support services that meet or exceed regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate a team of culinary and support services professionals to achieve our organization's goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with community leaders, suppliers, and vendors to ensure the delivery of quality services and products.
  • Model our organization's values and leadership behaviors, and inspire others to do the same.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, education, and coaching to team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide exceptional culinary and support services.
  • Support community leaders in menu planning and implementation, ensuring that our services meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
  • Develop and implement seasonal menus that meet regulatory requirements, resident-specific dietary needs, and community preferences.
  • Research and implement industry best practices to improve the quality and efficiency of our culinary and support services.
  • Collaborate with community leaders to develop, implement, and monitor standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage budgets, labor costs, and equipment and supplies to ensure the efficient operation of our culinary and support services.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and performance evaluation of culinary and support services team members.
  • Develop and implement orientation and onboarding programs for new team members.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of our culinary and support services, and provide reports and recommendations for improvement.
  • Participate in disaster and emergency planning, and lead the culinary services component of the planning and implementation.
  • Develop and nurture a positive, quality, and resident-focused service culture.
  • Participate in our quality improvement program, and prepare reports and provide information required by licensing authorities.
  • Attend resident and family meetings as requested.
  • Support the community's culinary services when no support service or culinary leadership is available.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a recognized Culinary Arts or Food Service Management or Hospitality Management program.
  • Inter-provincial (Red Seal) designation or equivalent.
  • Food Service Nutrition Management certification.
  • Food Safe level 1 and 2.
  • Management experience in food and beverage, hospitality, or support services: 5 years.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, organize time, demonstrate initiative, and work independently.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to travel (60%) and spend extended periods in various communities.
