Summary of Position:

The Director of Culinary and Support Services is responsible for leading the culinary and support services, ensuring exceptional hospitality experiences for residents and guests across all communities. This role reports to the VP Operations and collaborates with the Community Chef or Support Service Manager to deliver cost-effective, high-quality services that meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate the team to achieve the organization's goals, objectives, and key results.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships that support and strengthen the organizational culture and purpose.
  • Model the values and leadership behaviors of the organization, inspiring others to do the same.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, education, and coaching to team members to deliver exceptional culinary, housekeeping, and laundry services.
  • Support community leaders on menu changes, focusing on site demographics, resident-specific dietary requirements, and community preferences.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of seasonal menus that meet regulatory requirements, resident needs, and community preferences.
  • Research and implement industry best practices.
  • Develop and monitor standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage budgets, food and housekeeping costs, labor costs, equipment, and supplies while maintaining quality.
  • Ensure compliance with purchasing regulations and maximize rebates.
  • Provide direction and support for community-level implementation of activities related to production, presentation, and meal service.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality ingredients, equipment, and supplies while balancing budgetary requirements.
  • Ensure all relevant regulatory requirements are met and exceeded.
  • Participate in recruitment, hiring, and performance evaluation of Chefs and Support Service management team members.
  • Develop and implement orientation and onboarding programs for culinary and support service team members.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on the performance of culinary and support services.
  • Participate in disaster and emergency planning, leading the culinary services component.
  • Develop and nurture a positive, quality, and resident-focused service culture.
  • Participate in the quality improvement program, preparing reports and providing information required by licensing.
  • Attend resident and family meetings as requested.
  • Support the Community's Culinary Services when no Support Service or Culinary leadership is available.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a recognized Culinary Arts or Food Service Management or Hospitality Management program.
  • Inter-provincial (Red Seal) designation or equivalent preferred.
  • Food Service Nutrition Management certification preferred.
  • Food Safe level 1 and 2 required.
  • 5 years of management experience in food and beverage, Hospitality, or Support Services.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, organize time, demonstrate initiative, and work independently.
  • Must be available to travel (60%) and spend extended periods in various communities.
