Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Lead a team of employees to achieve daily business goals and objectives.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve team performance and productivity.
    • Provide coaching and training to employees to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Operational Management
    • Oversee the daily operations of the distribution center shift, including workload planning, order picking, sorting, and packing.
    • Ensure that all processes are completed on a timely basis and that daily business goals and special project requirements are met.
    • Collaborate with other departments to plan and share resources to ensure customer and business objectives are met.
  • Health and Safety
    • Ensure that all employees are properly trained to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.
    • Maintain all Occupational Health & Safety Act safety standards, including reporting of accidents, injuries, damages, and potential threats to safety.
  • Inventory Control
    • Ensure that the company's inventory control processes are followed, including regular participation in cycle counting.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with department managers, other shift managers, and supervisors as needed to ensure timely and relevant communication and the flow of information between departments.
    • Collaborate with supply chain departments of customers to obtain required routing information and resolve shipping-related issues.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain all required documentation in a well-organized and easily accessible manner.
    • Collect, report, and provide feedback on labor management standards.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Drive key improvement initiatives to develop best practices and provide performance improvement against established targets/KPIs.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience
    • Supervisory or management experience of 5 or more years within a large-scale distribution center.
    • University or college degree, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent skills developed through work experience.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent knowledge of distribution center operations, including storage methods and material flow.
    • Procedural awareness and the ability to coordinate the efforts of multiple work streams into a single output.
    • Working knowledge of the requirements for the safe operation of a variety of mobile equipment.
    • Excel, Outlook, Word, and working knowledge of WMS principles.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Strong work ethic and self-motivational ability.
    • Excellent command of the English language, both verbally and written.
    • The ability to communicate effectively, both on an individual level with team members and across departments within an organization.
