About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Care Attendant to join our team at the Surrey Animal Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic organization that makes a difference in the lives of animals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To care for the health and welfare of the animals in the Shelter, ensuring their optimal levels of care based on the Five Freedoms.
  • To provide support to the front office staff in a courteous and effective manner.
  • To maintain the entire physical plant in a clean, sanitary, and efficient manner.
  • To treat the animals humanely, with compassion and concern, and transmit these values to others both on and off the job.
Main Duties:
  • Maintain kennels, runs, and cat cages in a clean, sanitary, and efficient manner.
  • Provide proper diet and ensure animals feed and water properly.
  • Ensure animal's health and well-being in accordance with the society's animal health policy.
  • Maintain high standards to portray the image of the SPCA as a compassionate and caring organization.
  • Coordinate supporting work of volunteers and perform other duties as required.
Secondary Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist front office staff in telephone reception, answering counter inquiries, receiving animals for surrender, adoption procedures, license and merchandise sales, and general office routines.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and driver's abstract.
  • Demonstrable interest in all aspects of animal welfare.
  • Sound knowledge of animals, their breeds, characteristics, and common diseases.
  • Ability to work as a team player and possess excellent customer service skills.
Compensation:

The estimated salary for this position is $20.79 per hour. The successful candidate will be joining a team committed to making a difference in the lives of animals.
