Job Title: Construction Estimator

We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team at S. Young Enterprises Ltd. as a key member of our estimating department.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed estimates of labour and material costs for construction projects. This will involve operating CADD and other computer software systems, preparing estimates for general expenses and overheads, and providing economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs for construction projects
  • Operate CADD and other computer software systems to support estimating activities
  • Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads
  • Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects
  • Project cash flow and financing requirements
  • Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bids forms
  • Utilize quantity take-off procedures to ensure accuracy
  • Advise on tendering procedures and analyze tenders to recommend awards
  • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems to track project expenditures
  • Monitor and adjust contract expenditures to ensure project stays within budget
  • Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors
  • Liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to discuss changes and adjustments to cost estimates
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy
