About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Estimator to join our team at S. Young Enterprises Ltd. as a key member of our estimating department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed estimates of labour and material costs for construction projects
  • Operate computer-aided design (CAD) software and other estimating tools to produce accurate estimates
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate estimating and project delivery
  • Conduct site visits to gather data and information for estimating purposes
  • Prepare and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bid forms to clients and stakeholders
  • Monitor and adjust contract expenditures to ensure projects are delivered within budget
  • Develop and maintain a directory of suppliers and trade contractors
  • Liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure accurate estimating and project delivery
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate estimating
Requirements
  • College/CEGEP diploma or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in construction estimating, quantity surveying, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of estimating software and systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing project requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • CADD Course or equivalent experience
  • Estimating packages, take-off packages, scheduling packages, database, spreadsheet, AutoCAD, MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word
  • Experience in civil, commercial, and industrial construction
  • Project size estimating experience in the range of $1,500,001 to $8,000,000
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and will be required to work under pressure to meet project requirements.
