About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Controls Specialist to join our Corporate Finance team at Sun Life Financial. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of our internal controls and risk management processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate and attend internal control walkthrough meetings with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance with professional audit standards.
  2. Design, execute, and perform detailed testing of internal controls to identify areas for improvement.
  3. Evaluate internal controls and propose enhancements to strengthen our control environment.
  4. Investigate the cause of internal control weaknesses and perform analysis to identify remediation needs.
  5. Collaborate with external auditors to ensure proper alignment and leverage of management's internal controls testing.

Requirements:

  1. 1+ years of Public Accounting experience, preferably in IT audit or risk management.
  2. Bachelor's degree in accounting, with certifications such as CPA, CIA, or CISA a plus.
  3. Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley and evaluating internal controls.
  4. Strong understanding of control environments within the IT function.
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with various departments and stakeholders.
  6. Strong organizational skills and commitment to meeting reporting and control deadlines.
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
