The Volunteer Services Coordinator is a key member of the Halton Healthcare team, responsible for the day-to-day coordination of adult and youth volunteers at Georgetown Hospital. This role involves managing all aspects of the Volunteer Development Cycle, including recruitment, selection, placement, training, risk management, orientation, evaluation, supervision, and recognition of all volunteers.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategies to recruit, select, and place volunteers in various roles within the hospital.
- Provide training and orientation to new volunteers, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Manage volunteer databases and maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, skills, and availability.
- Coordinate volunteer events and activities, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for volunteers and patients.
- Collaborate with the Georgetown Hospital Volunteer Association to promote volunteer opportunities and recognize volunteer contributions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community groups, schools, and other organizations to promote volunteerism and recruit new volunteers.
- Monitor and evaluate volunteer performance, providing feedback and coaching to improve volunteer engagement and satisfaction.
- Completion of an Undergraduate Degree Program
- Volunteer Management Certificate or equivalent
- Experience leading adult and youth volunteers (minimum three years)
- Experience working in a healthcare setting is preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Proficient in volunteer database use, preferably VSys One or Better Impact
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, with strong time-management skills
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record
- Patient/customer-focused approach
- Team player with effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Caring and respectful attitude
- Fiscally responsible
