Accounting Clerk Job Description

Robert Half is seeking an experienced Accounting Clerk to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. As an Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for matching invoices to purchase orders/vouchers, data entry, and assisting with Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Order documents requiring knowledge of accounting codes and expenditure codes
  • Patch up discrepancies by checking all possible sources of disagreement, reconstructing probable actions, and recognizing the effect on other accounts; prepare correction documents as required
  • Compose statements and reports utilizing various sources
  • General accounting: assist with G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, other ad hoc projects
  • Support Accounts Payable: A/P invoice matching & filing, vendor invoices and disbursement filing
  • Contribute to Accounts Receivable: process daily invoices/credit, apply cash receipt, and help with collection of past due balance
  • Post financial figures to journals and ledgers
Requirements:
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel
  • Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Accounts Receivable (AR) experience preferred
  • Spreadsheet and ERP system experience is a plus
  • Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with individuals of all backgrounds
  • 1+ years of relevant experience
  • AA or BS/BA in Accounting or related field preferred
  • Excellent data entry skills
