Job Summary

The Tax Compliance Manager will work closely with internal stakeholders such as HR, Tax, Legal, and Finance teams to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment tax regulations. This role requires the incumbent to stay up to date on changes in employment tax regulations and advise the business on tax planning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain controls and deadlines to ensure proper and timely payment for all federal, state and local tax payments.
  • Lead efforts for the registration of new State/SUI/Local payroll tax as needed.
  • Develop and implement best practices for employment tax compliance across US and Canada.
  • Train employees who are involved in payroll processing on tax regulations and best practices.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance in payroll tax and regulatory reporting, and year end payroll tax reporting.
  • Develop the strategy to complete year-end tax reporting & filing process.
  • Review W4's and T4's with Sr. Leaders to explain withholding amounts.
  • Ensure high quality and accuracy of service delivery through ticketing tool Service Now for all payroll tax, HR compliance and privacy related employee questions.

Requirements

  • Experience in employment tax compliance, with a focus U.S. and Canada preferred.
  • Significant prior professional work experience with demonstrated achievement and leadership in understanding employment tax processes, regulatory compliance and/or Operations/Service-oriented environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to organize and analyze data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment tax regulations.
  • Passion for continuous process improvement and simplification.
