Our Business

We operate three food and pharmacy stores, thirty-one Angry Otter liquor stores, two feed mills, two bulk petroleum facilities, the Angry Otter Tap & Forno and Brewery in North Vancouver, the Highwayman Pub in Abbotsford, the Highwayman pub in South Surrey, and twenty-five gas station/convenience stores.

Job Summary

We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Liquor Store Operations Manager to lead our day-to-day operations and provide quality products and services in our store. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for providing strategic direction, leading, coaching, training, motivating, and inspiring our team members to deliver a superior guest service experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operation and management of the liquor store in accordance with company policies, procedures, and overall expectations.
  • Provide ongoing written and verbal feedback to the Area Manager.
  • Provide direction and leadership toward building a positive, highly motivated team.
  • Ensure the store's merchandising standards are being managed and maintained, and all programs are being implemented, measured, and managed.
  • Ensure the store's housekeeping, sanitation, and maintenance schedules/standards are managed and being maintained.
  • Directly responsible for ensuring the store adheres to BCLDB operating guidelines and all government regulations in labeling, pricing, sanitation, and food safety.
  • Attend and actively participate in commodity, leadership, and safety meetings.
  • Directly responsible for team member relations, including hiring, training, and development, and performance management.
  • Provide leadership in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S).
  • Contribute to the team in living the Corporate Values of Integrity, Community, and Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in progressive retail management positions with a proven successful track record.
  • Liquor, retail, and/or guest service background preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the ability to manage computer files efficiently.
  • Solid basic math skills and the ability to read and understand financial reports.
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership, and communications skills.
  • A self-starter with motivation and the ability to work in a busy environment.
  • Effective planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain relationships both internally and externally to support the organization.
  • Enjoy working with the public and strive to provide a consistent and superior guest service experience.
  • Must have open availability and be able to work a variety of shifts, 7 days a week, including early mornings, afternoons, late evenings, weekdays, weekends, and stat holidays.
  • Valid Serving it Right Certificate required.
  • This position is based at the Parkcrest Liquor Store, though it may require occasional travel and work at other locations as business needs arise.
