Job Summary

The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse - Communicable Disease Specialist to join our team in Inuvik. As a key member of our public health team, you will provide culturally sensitive care to individuals in remote communities, working closely with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and facilitate learning needs of clients regarding vaccinations, communicable diseases, treatments, and health protection.
  • Provide vaccinations according to the Northwest Territories Immunization Schedule and the Canadian Immunization Schedule, with successful completion of the Education Program for Immunization Competencies (EPIC).
  • Commit to actively upholding and consistently practicing personal diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness, as well as safety and sensitivity approaches in the workplace.
  • Organize and implement multiple assessments, projects, and meet deadlines at the individual, group, and community levels.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of people, including indigenous peoples, people of different cultures and backgrounds, and medical and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Requirements
  • Recognized Licensed Practical Nurse program, plus two (2) years of experience within a full scope of practice, including medication and vaccination administration.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Eligible for current registration/certification with GNWT Registrar of Professional Licensing.

  • Competitive salary range: $40.91 per hour to $48.86 per hour (approximately $79,775 - $95,277) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $14,661.
